For a simple, effortless display, hang your flag directly from the wall using a small nail or hook. We especially love the look of small, rustic hooks—they add a little character while keeping the focus on the flag itself.

There’s no need to stretch or flatten the canvas. Allow the flag to hang naturally, with its folds and imperfections intact. The more relaxed, the better.

A flag can also be framed as you would a piece of artwork. We recommend using a frame with enough depth to allow the canvas to retain some of its natural texture and character, rather than pressing it flat against the glass.

For the most natural look, lightly secure the flag to the backing rather than stretching it taut. A few wrinkles and irregularities are part of what makes each flag unique.

For a grouping of five flags, we like what we call the Half-Pinwheel—a loose cluster that allows each flag to stand on its own while reading as one collection.

For this arrangement, use a shadow-box style frame rather than a traditional frame. The additional depth keeps the flags from sitting directly against the glass and allows the canvas to retain its natural shape.

The goal is for them to look as though they’ve just been pulled from an old shipyard—weathered, lived-in, and entirely at home on the wall.
