Competitive surfers in the 1960's were identified by large numbers on their jerseys. The numbers were set in a bold, slab typeface and in high-contrast black and white.
This hand-made flag uses a washed canvas with hand-screen printed numbers and a US Surfboard Championship patch. Each flag is topped with a natural twine + twill tape and stamped with Slightly Choppy branding.
Colors: Natural and Black
Size: 12" x 20", give or take...
I love the care that goes into everything Scott makes. We've got a National Park (Yellowstone) flag and a Jersey Number flag, and if others didn't beat me to the punch buying his stuff up before I can get to it, we'd have more!
Love my flags!
Purchased 3 pennants and I cannot choose a favorite. Craftsmanship is so beautiful. Don't hesitate! Just buy! You'll be so happy you did.
I am so amazed by the quality and detail in these flags! While I am writing the review for the numbered flag that we purchased, I wound up buying five! I had four and then decided to get a custom flag with our last name on it when the custom listing opened up again. I am blown away. These legs are absolutely beautiful and are the focal point in our son‘s new “big boy“ room. As someone who grew up with a father who owned a local marina in my hometown on Lake Erie as well as grew up on boats, I wanted to have a nod to my nautical roots in my son’s room. These are the absolute perfect way to do that. Thank you so much for creating such gorgeous pieces. I know there is a significant tie to the surfing community with many of your flags but I had so many memories come flooding back of yacht clubs we visited when I was a child because of the look and feel of your vintage pennants/ burgees. They remind me of yacht club clubhouses with burgees proudly hanging from the rafters. Thank you again!
I was giddy at ordering these flags, and I was just as thrilled when I received them. The details are what makes an item, and Scott pays attention to them beautifully. That love comes out in the presentation of the flags. They are just stunning.
Thank you, Scott!
