Ben Did Go Flag
On July 6, 2014 during a large hurricane swell, Newport Beach veteran lifeguard Ben Carlson, drowned while saving a swimmer’s life.
A 15-year veteran of the Newport Beach Lifeguards, Carlson epitomized the spirit of a lifeguard and the Newport Beach community as a whole. He is the only U.S. lifeguard to lose his life in the line of duty.
This flag honors the legacy of Ben Carlson, the fallen Newport Beach hero. Proceeds from the sale of this flag will go towards the Ben Carlson Memorial & Scholarship Foundation.
This hand-made flag uses a washed navy canvas with white hand-screen print and tipped in red. Each flag is topped with a natural twine + twill tape and stamped with Slightly Choppy branding.
Colors: Navy, white and just a spot of red
Size: 12" x 20", give or take...
As a former lifeguard, I appreciate the life and work of Ben Carlson. Slightly Choppy's superbly crafted pennant honors Ben's life and sacrifice in the line of duty. I can see the care and attention to detail in the pennant. The Ben Did Go pennant now has a special place in my home.
The "Ben-Did-Go" flag was just what I expected. Quality craftsmanship and timely delivery. All the products looked great. I will keep these in mind for future gift ideas because they are really unique.
Great combination of Slightly Choppy design with the meaning of the Ben Carlson Foundation! Such a strong message for lifeguards and the Newport Beach community.
Super stoked I was finally able to get one! Excellent craftsmanship! It will hang indoors in my son’s room (he’s a junior lifeguard) and will proudly fly below my American flag every July 6th.
A solid pennant with authentic vintage appeal. Definitely hand made with details only a true artist would incorporate. First of many as I intend to build a collection. ~Josh, St. Augustine Beach
